Our Services
Our lobbying and advocacy services are as varied as our clients, since we tailor our strategy to your unique needs and expectations and our unique professional background. Little Government Relations, formed in 2001, is a pragmatic and client-focused government relations and advocacy practice. The firm has always represented a client base of thoughtful groups, organizations and businesses seeking respected and reliable government relations services.
Stuart’s experience and expertise as a key professional, non-partisan senior staff for the powerful budget committees of the Kansas Legislature shaped the foundations of LGR to include a strong team, comprehensive coverage of public policy and funding issues, and diligent focus on client needs.
Little Government Relations’ primary areas of practice include lobbying and advocacy in the areas of appropriations, education, healthcare, children’s services, behavioral health, local government, banking, and corrections.
Our work focuses on several key principals that guide our work with LGR clients:
- Monitoring, reporting, and coordination of legislative efforts for client policy initiatives
- Facilitate meetings with legislators and other key stakeholders
- Provide & assist with testimony
- Review, analyze, and report on new and advancing legislation
- Coverage of interim legislative and administrative activities
- Success requires targeted and critical analysis of circumstances, need, the political and financial will, an assessment of opponents and allies, and the most elusive perception of the unknown factors
Successful advocacy includes shaping client objectives to the public policy norms and processes.
First, we educate, inform, and integrate the client’s position on the issues and requirements. Knowing client needs allows us to plan ahead, analyze options as they arise, and communicate that message back to the client membership and ensure the client base shares our common mission.
Second, our relationships with Legislators and members of the administration, allow us to structure messaging, testimony, personal meetings, and materials.
At a minimum we provide written, verbal, and in-person communications, written weekly and at least once per month during the off-session. Additionally, there are times when daily and hourly personal contact with key administrative staff is essential. We structure these communications to fit your unique needs.
Reports include information on hearings, summaries of new bills, the progress and status of bills already introduced and in the hearing process, and general perspective-setting insights as to the general status of the session. Taxes, budgets, policy, and politics—all the big themes—are intertwined with client-specific updates to provide a comprehensive view of Statehouse happenings.
Our written reports are timely, thorough, and informative. Clients note a focus and clarity in our reports that are not simply pushing along news accounts and opinions. Reports include information on new bills, the progress and status of bills already introduced, hearings, and speculation on what may be coming next. We capture and include everything, and we’ll dig deep into the details when necessary. We recognize clients have limited time and we’ll make it easier to skim quickly the issues and topics of interest while capturing the big picture and context. Policy and politics—all the big themes—are intertwined with client-specific updates to provide a comprehensive view of Statehouse activities.
